linux os based question?
i've installed fedora 7 on my sys. it was installed successfully. when i used to play songs with the default movie player, it shows an error like mpeg layer 1 mp3 decoder missing, then i downloaded that one and tried to install it, but it is not installed. after that i downloaded so many softwares and players for playing songs, when i'm trying to install those softwares i got so many errors. i dont know why. some errors like permissions denied, cant create folders, till now i cannot install even one software also. i login as a admin of the sys, after that i'm switching user to root when i'm using terminal to run scripts. please clarify my doubt. what i have to do to make an installation successfully. i look forward for efficient reply. thank you!!!
Probably not the answer you are looking for but I installed Ubuntu for my fileserver and this works a treat on first installation. I also run fuppes to stream my media to my PS3 and after a bit of tweaking, this also works a treat. I have always found ubuntu a smooth and easy OS.
