1. iPod was the first name brand mp3 player on the market. It has simply gained alot of respect in the electronics field. (Plus, it's a fad right now.) Apple has set up a wonderful support system that helps alot, and everything is so organized, especially iTunes.

2. You may have heard that, but they probably meant the battery. iPods can last many, many years, but the battery will probably have to be replaced every 2-3 years.

3. I'm not sure how long they last, and I don't know about the coverage/warranty or anything.

4. iPod, of course, like any electronic, has glitches. But I will connect with the newer iPods. The shuffles and nanos are so tiny that I hear alot of people saying they left them in pockets, and the iPod went through the wash. The iPod videos, I often hear, don't play videos that are downloaded or they freeze and skip alot.
With some of the older iPods, they skip songs and stuff like that. Plus, with older iPods, their warranties aren't usually good anymore, and if something goes ary, it's hard to fix it.

5. iPod video is the largest. It comes with 30, 60, or 80 GBs, and it costs at least $250.
iPod nano is the medium sized one. 2GB comes in silver, 4GB comes in silver, blue, pink, and green, and 8GB only comes in black. The 2GB ones are $150. the 4GB ones are $200. I think the 8GB ones are $250.
iPod shuffle has one gig and no screen. It comes in silver, pink, orange, green, and blue.
Personally I would take the iPod nano. WIth the new iPods, it seems to give you the most bang for your buck. But personally I like the iPod minis, black and white screen, but it's the cheepest for its overall capabilities.
